Black & Bruised Spritzer takes our best-selling blend of Concord and blackberry and adds a light sparkle for a crisp, refreshing finish. It keeps the same bold, jammy fruit character fans love, now in a spritz that's perfect over ice on warm Kentucky days.

Made from fresh fruit and fruit juice, never artificial flavoring, this spritzer shows rich dark berry aromatics up front with a smooth, sweet palate and soft tannins. Gentle carbonation lifts the blackberry and grape flavors, making each sip bright without losing the lush sweetness you expect from Purple Toad's Gourmet Sweet Wines® and Kentucky Bourbon & Whiskey lineup.

Serve well-chilled straight from the bottle, or pour over ice for a slightly lighter take. It's an easy match for barbecue, chocolate desserts, or just sipping on the porch when you want something fruity, fun, and unmistakably Purple Toad.

Sweetness scale: same as Black & Bruised.

Style: Sweet, lightly sparkling red wine spritzer made from Concord grapes and blackberry.

Tasting Notes

Smooth, rich, and bursting with flavor.

Black & Bruised is a blend of blackberry and Concord wines — two of our most-loved flavors, brought together in perfect harmony. It’s juicy, jammy, and sweet from start to finish, with a deep purple color and a soft, velvety texture that makes it hard to put down.

Pairing Suggestions

- BBQ, smoked meats, or burgers — sweet balances smoky.
- Chocolate desserts — from brownies to truffles.
- Soft cheeses or cheesecake — rich and creamy meets fruity and bold.
- Or, just enjoy it cold — no pairing needed.

Story Behind the Wine

Our #1 wine used to be Concord, and #2 was Lauren’s Blackberry. One day, our owner sat down and said, “What if we blended the two?”

After several trials, the result was exactly what we hoped for — the best of both wines in one bottle.

It was originally called Black & Blue, but we had to change the name several years ago due to trademark issues with another winery. Since we’d always called Concord “blue” for its color and our Toad mascot already had a black eye and bandages, we renamed it Black & Bruised — and trademarked it.

Today, Black & Bruised makes up nearly 30% of our total sales, and it’s still the wine most people fall in love with first.

Serving Tip

Serve cold — between 35°F and 45°F — to bring out the fresh fruit character and smooth finish.
